PERSONALITY TRAITS

Belle is a very standoffish and cold person. She's generally numb to other peoples suffering and often acts like her father. Snobbish and cruel. She will often insult or even go as far as hitting incompetent males as they're supposed to be more competent than females according to what she's been taught her whole life. Anyone that threatens her will be subject to abuse from her until they back off but if they actually lash out she's likely to run away. She doesn't seem to have much faith in those around her but most of her negative traits are from the way she's been brought up.

Underneath it all, she's actually a rather caring person this can be seen with her interactions with her pets.

From since she can remember Belle has been brought up in a very snobbish and extremely strict environment. A lot of her earliest memories were of her parents arguing because her father was drunk and her father threatening to 'get the belt'. However she doesn't really remember much of her mother save for her being a very loving and caring person. Her mother mysteriously disappeared when Belle was all of seven years old, leaving the tiny seven year old in her fathers care.

Her father it turned out had always wanted a boy. Belle was the complete opposite of what he'd wanted. So instead of raising her like he'd had to the last seven years to keep up his image he stuck her in an all girls school that he approved of. Students had to submit to a strict regime. Breakfast at six a.m. if students didn't get up and weren't dressed in time, they missed out on breakfast. Lessons up until half an hour past noon, a half hour for lunch, those who don't finish before the half hour mark have the rest of their food taken away from them. Afternoon lessons last right up until the evening meal, once the students had their evening meal they were sent to their 'study room' where a teacher would watch them to make sure they did their homework. Once done by seven o'clock the girls would be allowed an hour of television before being confined to their dorms. Any resistance was met with force and beatings.

Mistakes were not looked on with compassion, instead the offender would be subject to verbal abuse and a public beating to teach them NOT to do it again. Now Belle only ever had to see this happen once to lose whatever happiness she'd had. During the holidays when she went home to see her father she tried to explain and she tried to get him to let her move to a different school only to be met with aggression and a belt to the face. She'd apologized for her mistake at that point and simply carried on as if nothing was wrong, despite now having a rather nasty bruise.

She became extremely tough and cold because of the way she was treated at school, she'd pretty much lost faith and hope of being able to leave the school. She did however get straight A's and A stars, she was an over achiever and she recieved hate from other girls for it, this in turn lead to her being left on her own most of the time. She had no friends. She even got detention when she defended herself against a brutal attack made by other girls because she was outnumbered five to one when it came to arguing and story telling. When she was fourteen she, sadly, made a mistake, she made mistakes on her homework and dropped down to a B. Because of this she was beaten, she still has the scars to prove it. She was beaten so badly behind her legs that she was unable to walk for a week till her legs had healed.

When she tried to tell her father what happened? Even showed him the scars, it was clear he didn't care. Instead he beat her as well leaving the teenager to go to school with a black eye when she returned.

This eventually all took its toll, she actually spent a lot of time in the girls showers out of the way, crying, or she'd silently cry herself to sleep. Sure she felt sorry for herself for the longest time but eventually, she fooled herself in to thinking she was the one out of line, that she was a bad child and that she needed to just get on with her learning. Her feelings didn't matter. So she closed herself off completely and became a rather cold hearted person who acted according to what was around her. She had also learned of the poverty that was elsewhere in the world so she also thought about that, at least she was fed, she had water, she had a roof over her head, she was lucky and shouldn't be so ungrateful.

Thanks to that, she was actually looked on in a good light when her father spoke to her again, he liked how she'd changed, saw her to be fitting for a woman with his name. When it was revealed that she was to be class rep and was to receive the honour of a formal one on one induction meeting with her male headmaster her father revealed that they both had to move to Utopia since that's where his new job would be. She was furious. She had no idea however that it was a good thing that she was moved away from the school because the 'induction' was something that was rather dark, given the teacher was a male and class reps were only ever legal females, I'm sure you can guess what it meant.

So. Now she's here. The change of pace is having a negative effect on her because it's making her question herself but what she doesn't realize is that her father has abandoned her here. He has no intentions of ever seeing her again. Here she'll be safe and here she'll be out of his life so he can re-marry as a childless man.
