It was a rather nice and peaceful day at Utopia Institute. But Grace Valentina was inside in the library. She was still rather new and there were so many different people around so she was a little overwhelmed. The place was very nice, it was just her first time at a school like this. But the library is a place of comfort for Grace so she can be found here most days when she wasn't in class or sleeping. Here or out in the green house. Those were just the kind of places she drifted to. Although she did have to be careful in the greenhouse with her allergies but if she had her allergy pills beforehand, she would be fine. But libraries and book shops reminded her of home so she would stay around longer than normal if she was a little homesick. She also liked libraries because they were peaceful. You could just think and relax here. And that was a good feeling to have in this sort of area. She just adored the feeling she got, surrounded by all these books. She did need to meet new people and to try making some friends. It would make things easier in the long run, with her needing help or wanting to hang out. But with her being shy, making friends often felt rather hard to accomplish. But she was going to try at least. Being alone in a new place could be rather daunting after all. Maybe some friends could help her grow out of her shell and help her return to her outgoing self like when she was a young girl. WORDS: 274 TAGS: open NOTES: anyone's free to join ^^

Most people who knew Alex wouldn't have thought he was the kind who liked to read. He was a very active kid, who liked to run around and do stuff. But those who knew him better knew he did like to read. He just had other hobbies too. Still, there were times when he liked to sit down, open a book on a subject, and just learn. This was one of those times. He had seen a lot of the school already, and now it was time to turn his attention to the library. It was time to read a book.
"Woow, it's so big! he exclaimed innocently, though he used his inside voice as to ot be disruptive. He blushed as he caught his innuendo, and then fell quiet, though a large grin remained on his face as his eyes sparkled at all the books. He walked in, and immediately went to the how-to section. Once there, he hunted down the mechanical books. His grin got even bigger, somehow, at this point. "They even have Magical Components and Runeology in Conjunction with Gears by Gerald Sterling! I've been looking for this book forever!" he swooped down, collected the book which he cradled lovingly to his chest, then plopped down in a seat quietly to read. He wasn't paying attention to where he was sitting, and would have been surprised to know he had taken his seat directly to the left of Grace. Cracking open his book, he began to read.

Grace was so deeply engrossed in the book she was reading at the current moment. The hero in the story was making his way to his end objective, to save his home and his family. And where she currently was in the story, the hero had made a new friend and thus, his fellowship of sorts grew. Grace was so in awe of characters like the hero. They were often so strong or they had people that could help them grow in time to save the day in the end. Most of them were outgoing or friendly enough to end up with a large group of friends. But they could also make enemies just as easy. She would love to have a huge group of friends but she was working on that. She was still shy but she was trying her best to make conversations when she could. She was beginning to move her foot when she accidentally kicked over her bag. She placed her book down on her lap and looked to see that her bag was in someone else's space and her cheeks burned up with embarrassment. She quickly got out of her seat and grabbed at her bag. "I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen." She said before pulling her bag against her rather tightly. She felt so bad at the current moment although there was absolutely no need for it. The book was fascinating. It detailed different ways certain spells could be used to help in building things. Wind spells could be used to lift objects to you, for example. ire spells could work when forging supplies. Various things like that. It was very detailed, and Alex was engrossed in it. Then, the girl he hadn't noticed next to him moved, which drew his attention. She had gotten up, snatched her bag and apologized. Alex, who hadn't even noticed anything until she pointed it out, only grinned confusedly and rubbed the back of his neck. "Ah, that's okay? I didn't even notice anything happened."
He smiled reassuringly because the girl looked nervous, "Im sorry I didn't notice you sooner. I was just really into this book," ge absently waved his hand at it, "Oh, and I'm Alex- Alex Stone! Nice to meet you." He looked up at her expectantly. Perhaps he might make another friend, he thought, his easy grin still in place. He thought for a moment, then stood up as well, and offered his hand to her. He really hoped this went well. He was still pretty new here, and was always interested in meeting new people. Plus, she seemed nice enough, if a bit shy. She wasn't as soft spoken as Alice though, even if she seemed as shy, though she was more nervous-looking.

There she was, over-reacting for no good reason. But she tended to do that most of the time. "Oh, okay. If you're sure." She spoke rather timidly, still holding the bag close to her chest. She reminded herself to start taking slow, deep breaths so she could calm herself down. She was never good to be around when she was a mess. And she didn't want to really scare anyone away. Especially not when she had the chance of making a potential friend right now.
She noticed that the boy was smiling at her so she smiled back, although it was a small smile. But that was better than nothing in the end. "It's fine, you don't have to worry. I can get that way too with the right book." She was a wallflower so to speak and he had been too busy to notice her in the first place. But she'd slowly come out of her shell in time. "It's nice to meet you too, Alex. My name is Grace Valentina." She finally felt comfortable enough to lower her bag to her lap. Her smile even widened a little bit more.
