Raina grew up not knowing her birth mother, who apparently died of an illness when she was only a few months old. She was aware of the fact more because their were pictures around the house of her still and she asked about them. It never changed her treating her stepmother like she was her actual mom, afterall it was all she knew. Though not knowing her mom had its drawbacks. Her father knew her mom had unusual magic abilities, though she seemed secretive more often then not so when Raina displayed the same kind unlike her older sister, He tried to cover it as well. However, it flowed as much with Raina's emotions and well, she wore them quite openly. Which was why she was home schooled for the most part... her father didn't see things bursting into flame in her hands if she got angry bringing any good. And being a lawyer... probably lawsuits.

As she got older, she got a better handle on keeping it controlled, not to say it doesn't slip once in a while, but generally its harmless, usually limited to a shift in wardrobe or hair and eye color. She was always curious what her step mother did for a living, as she got money from somewhere, but never an idea where. Though, after her first couple years at the academy, she got a bit of an idea. Her parents both wanted her to go their for a good education, and her father taught her to think business. 
One day a few months after her birthday, one of her fathers employees came to drop some papers off to her father. Her father asked if he had enjoyed a night at a strip club he had paid for for his 21st birthday, an Raina happened to hear him comment that he had and had seen a girl that looked like her. So to avoid "funny story" leading to "where are you going at nights", she came clean and said she was dancing there. Though, she covered for his employee when he was asked if he'd gotten a dance from her or anything. Naturally her parents first reaction was shock, and in her fathers case horror and wanting her to get out of it. However, she argued she had seen her stepmother stretch some of the ways she danced, as well as turning her fathers teachings on him. At the beach, boys stared at her, it required few hours for a decent income, and she was basically paid to exercise to stay in shape. In terms of business and saving time for school.... it made sense. On those terms he had to resist saying "that's my girl", though the look he gave her stepmother led her down that she was in a similar line of work... and that they had probably met at it.

She graduated from the institute and it took her a few months to really decide what she wanted to do. She actually took some time away from her work, which she sort of enjoyed and didn't want to give up, to visit her birth mothers family in their home. She actually decided to visit a bar and brothel with a cousin to see what they were like here, having finally worked it out of her mother she had been a brothel worker when she met her father. It started out and seemed like what her mom talked about, till she over heard the owner yelling at one of the girls because she didn't want to go with a client that "he didn't care what he did to her" and flat out punched her. Which despite her cousin trying to stop her sent her over the edge and she pummeled the owner till her cousin and several patrons that were town guards pulled her off. She ended up spending the night in the towns lock up, as the guards agreed with her actions, but he was payed up with the right people. She spent the rest of the trip learning about what was going on in the region as a whole, and more importantly who he was paid up with. She worked out some deals and all that voided what that brothel owner had in place.

So she showed up to it to see him in a frenzy talking to an orb to one of the very people she had just finished talking with. And was almost gleeful when she said that he and all the others had a new deal with her, and that he no longer had anything to protect himself from the guards, the girls, or her. She told him the brothel was hers now, and that if he left town now and never returned, he wouldn't get hurt by her or the guards that were itching to do so. Naturally he assumed the first night was simply because she blindsided him but she immediately when he went to attack her in a rage went straight to hitting him with a fireball. She waited a few seconds to put him out, and he very clearly got the message and went to limp his way for medical attention. She waited for the girls that slept there to wake up, most of whom were puzzled by not being woken up, and the ones that lived off the property to show up to let them know of the change in management, and that she was making his former assistant the one in charge assuming she wanted to stay on, as she was going to go home, but would of course be visiting to make sure things were still working as they should and all and checking in. Some of the girls chose to leave, as they had been sold to the brothel, most chose to stay and a few wanted to leave with her.

At first she wasn't sure what she could do about getting them work save for the strip joint she worked at, though it occurred to her that perhaps owning a brothel in what she really called home wouldn't be a bad idea, and having a strip club with it she could still get on stage and all as she liked. So she checked with them if they wanted to continue in this line of work, and as they all agreed, she had her path.

It took a few months to get the building and get it set up, but once she did, it felt....right... for some reason. The girls loved it because it was a 1000 times better then the place they had been at was, 100 times overall though given some of the work Raina had them do at it. Business was slow at the start, as expected of a new start up, but it has grown to at least a good steady business for the brothel side, the strip club however does a bit more. While there are of course some humans, the majority of the girls are not, given many are refugee's from her birth mother and cousins region and the current wars going on over there, all of whom are willing or want to do the work, but she figures it's for the best given it not only helps out some people in trouble, but also from a purely business stand point limits what a customer may want that she doesn't have. Plus, she still enjoys getting up on the stage once in a while to dance..... and on occasion taking a client on.
