Alice searched the empty halls with her bright pink eyes. She was focused, reserved, completely absorbed into the task set ahead of her. All of that shattered when he reached for her hand. In surprise, she looked back at him as he closed his hand over hers and began to take the lead, dragging her towards the boy's dorm. "W-wait, but what if someone sees you..?" she said, but her voice was so soft that it seemed to be carried away in the wind. I guess he just forgot he dressed as a boy... She thought, following behind him
Alex seemed to feel uneasy. "A monster, huh..." she repeated softly after him, looking to the ground in more shame. If anything, Alex should have been afraid of Alice. The small girl followed behind him without saying another word until they reached Alex's dorm. They met no one on the way. "I guess... this is where we part?" she said sadly.

Without much fanfare, they made it to his dorm. By being a bit sneaky and slick, they had avoided being spotted by anyone, oddly enough. Alex was happy for that. He hadn't heard the quiet girl earlier, nor had he felt her inner pain. He had no clue his words could have hurt her, not really. However, when they reached his room and he dropped her hand, he turned to grin widely at her, the make-up and everything making his eyes seem to sparkle as his dress spun with him cutely. He dug in the pockets of his dirty pants for a key, and proceeded to unlock his room. He heard her, and now noticed she seemed a bit sad. Of course, he didn't like it when girls were sad- much less someone he was friends with! "Hey, I saw your room. I can show you mine now if you want. I can get changed in the bathroom and give you your clothes back too." It'd be neat to show her his room. He had some cool stuff, and it wasn't often he could share these kinds of things with someone he hadn't grown up with. He hoped she said yes.

Alice smiled, grateful that Alex invited her inside his room. "Alright, but I shouldn't stay for long. I know that you just woke up, but you should still get some rest, too." she said, worry ebbing from her voice. She followed him into his room, stopping just inside the threshold just to take in the entirety of the abode. "Don't forget to wash the makeup off your face." she gently reminded him, "Though, you do look really cute. Look in the mirror while you're in there. Maybe take a picture or two, for laughs?" she suggested, tilting her head to the side and smiling.

Grinning, he nodded at her and replied. "I would, but I don't have a camera." And then he was behind the closed door of the bathroom. In there, he swiftly washed his face off, and stripped. He looked in the mirror and smiled wryly. Life was so weird sometimes, really, he though to himself as he finished up. He then stopped and looked around. He noticed he was missing something important. He blanched. "Hey, I need to come out real quick to get some clothes." he said through the door and fashioned a towel around his naked waist, and left the bathroom. He smiled hesitantly at Alice, then finished gathering his clothes from a dresser. Just a simple shirt, jeans, and boxers combo. He fled back into the bathroom, and got dressed. Then, he returned to the room, a wide grin on his face.
"Alright! So this is my room. I have it all to myself."

Alice waited anxiously while Alex changed out of her clothes. While he was in the bathroom, she walked around his room, giving everything a once-over before casually sitting on his bed. She plopped down on the mattress, and then leaned back until she was laying down. She spread her arms out and stared at the ceiling, imagining what it would be like to be Alex. Alice didn't even flinch when the boy came out of the bathroom to grab some clothes, but she sat upright when he came out a second time.
"Oh? So you're like me, then. All alone..." she said, not intending to imply that she was lonely, but merely stating the fact. "It's nice." she finished her sentence. Alice reached out to take her clothes from Alex, a soft smile on her face. "It was nice meeting you, despite the chaos that ensued." she laughed a little, embarrassed. "Remember, next time, use the ladder!" she said, before heading towards the door.

"But I'm not alone. I've got you, after all!" he cheered, grinning widely as he handed her clothes over to the her. He smiled warmly at her next words and nodded, "You're my frst real friend here, you know? So it really was nice! I mean, no one was hurt in the end, and it seems you can't turn people, accidentally, at least. Or maybe I'm immune..." he trailed off and winked at her when she said to use the ladder. Before she left, though he stopped her, resting his hand on her elbow, "Hey... I know this is weird and all, but you are what you are. And I didn't turn, so I probably won't. If you need blood, you can come to me. I want to help you out, especially since you said it tasted good." He looked so earnest.

Expectantly, Alice turned back to Alex when he touched her elbow. She let out the rest of the air in her lungs, closing her eyes in a small laugh. Daintily reaching towards him, she patted his head. "Believe it or not, I eat human food." she laughed lightly, "But I'll come to you if I need any help. Just do the same for me, ok? I'll help you with anything." She removed her hand from his head and took one more step towards the door. Without taking a breath, Alice turned behind her and snuck a quick kiss on Alex's cheek before running the rest of the way out the door. "Bye!" she hastily called out behind her, before she disappeared into the hallway.

Huffing, Alex turned away when she patted his head, feeling embarrassed. Of course she ate real food. But she offered to help him with anything, so he had to match that. He grinned and nodded his head once, ["Right! You can count on me too!" He wasn't prepared for her to suddenly press her lips against his cheek. THe young man blushed, frozen in shock, then slowly reached up and touched his cheek. As Alice vanished in the distance, he reentered his room, and closed the door. He sighed, looking up at his ceiling. At the very least, this school would be fun!
