It wasn't easy, getting up here. In fact, it was a lot of trouble, having to shimmy up and around and climb until he made it to the roof. Not once did he see the ladder to come up here, but that was besides the point. Here he was, huffing and puffing with a big silly grin on his face as he watched everything around him for miles. It was amazing, really. A breeze pushed against him and he raised his arms, eyes closed. Up here, nothing else mattered. Up here, it was paradise.
He had been wandering around the school before now, not really sure what was going on. He was new, and it showed in his every movement. But up here, all alone, he could relax and enjoy himself. So he did. "It's so amazing up here!" he gushed to himself, "It's so cool... Amazing!" e was so happy to have discovered this spot. He put his arms down and just enjoyed the faint founds from below, and everything all around hi,.

A strange boy arrived from the side of the building. With carefully calculating eyes, Alice watched him climb over the foot high wall separating the roof from the open air and smile at the world. She tilted her head to one side, wondering why he decided to climb the dangerous climb to the top instead of just using the ladder around the other side. Suddenly concerned for his safety, she decided to approach him. She walked up in a timid manner, holding her right arm in place by using her left to grasp her right elbow. Her pink eyes shimmied across the floor until she arrived in front of the boy.
"Uhm, are you ok?" she asked, looking to one side and trying to do her best not to make eye contact with him. It was hard to do. He was the type of person that drew everyone's gaze with his bursting energy. "You should have just used the ladder... climbing is dangerous, you could have fell!" Even with exclamation in her voice, it was almost as if Alice hadn't spoken at all, as if her voice was simply some soft bird's cry, carried to the roof in the wind.

He was so caught up in the moment, that he hadn't noticed there was anyone else at all up here. He honestly though he was alone. So when a voice timidly spoke up from beside him, he freaked out a little. His eyes shoot open and he pivoted, having been surprised by the girl. "Hwaa!?" He elegantly replied as he lost his footing and began to fall off the roof. His eyes bulged as he realized what was happening, and before he could plummet to his death, his hand shot out and grabbed the edge of the roof as he fell. Struggling, he pulled himself back onto the roof, and panted on his hands and knees.
Suddenly, he started laughing. It was a contagious laugh, one full of life and the realization that he was not, in fact, dead. He slowly got to his feet and face the girl, eyes closed, his right hand rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "Hey there, I'm sorry I didn't see you earlier. I thought I was alone up here." He glances at the roof's edge again, "An I guess you're right! In fact, I did almost fall! Ahahaha!" His laugh was kind of awkward as he trailed off.
He finally registered her other words, "There was a ladder!? No way!" How could he hvve missed it? He sighs, before adding, "Oh well... Anyways, I'm Alex Stone. It's nice to meet you!"

"Wait... did you hea-- Uwaaah!" Alice screamed, darting forward and helping the boy haul himself up after he caught the ledge. She lightly pat his back when he was safe and sound on the roof again. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you." she claimed, feeling guilt rise in the back of her throat for almost causing someone's death. It was a good thing this boy had good reaction time, or else Alice might have been looking over the boy's dead body, stories below. Alice stood and listened until it seemed like the boy was finished speaking.
"I'm Alice." she told him, holding her hands shyly behind her back, she blushed a little, looking to the ground. By now it was impossible for the boy not to have noticed the huge canine teeth protruding from her mouth. "I'm a first year, what about you?" she brushed some of her blonde hair back behind her shoulders and rocked back and forth nervously on her heels.Remember what mother taught you! she urged herself, Its fine. Its not like its the first boy youve ever talked to... her thoughts seemed to trail off to ponder this in a deeper part of her mind.Oh god, this is the first boy your age you've talked to and you nearly killed him! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

His eyes opened and he kept an easy smile on his face when she apologized and introduced herself. Alice, huh. She seemed like a good person to him. He hadn't really met anyone around here yet, so this was new. He was used to everyone knowing everyone in his old home, but he was sure he would be fine. It couldn't be hard making friends, after all. He nodded his head when she said she was a first year, and his smile got a little wider. "That makes two of us! I haven't been here for long, just a few days. I just finished getting enrolled here, and my classes will get finalized tomorrow. I'm hoping to take Design Technology and History of Gemstones, and my brother is forcing me to take... err, sex ed." He looks a way with a blush, scratching at his cheek with his index finger. "I'm not sure about any other classes yet."

A small smile rose to Alice's face as the boy continued talking. She liked the way he was full of energy and courteous and nice. It was quite different from the still, stern atmosphere around her home and tutors. Change was scary to Alice, but she also knew that change was good. Change was Alex Stone.
"I'm taking Supernatural Studies and Computer Programming." She gave him a little smile as he turned away and blushed, trying to make him feel as comfortable as possible. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable, especially after, well, almost killing him. "I think we'll be in the same sex ed class as well. Mother never taught me anything about it, so I'm a little curious as to what it is..." she admitted slowly, her voice trailing off near the end of her sentence.
Her eyes trailed over to Alex's finger that was scratching at his cheek. Alice's pink eyes were suddenly hyper-focused, aware of a small pulse that was visible underneath the thin skin of his cheek. Her eyes drifted downward, towards his throat. A larger pulse, more blood. If she could just get close enough...
Alice shook her head at herself as if to clear her thoughts. "You have a brother? I never had any siblings. What's it like to have someone live with you, older but not quite an adult?" she asked, curiosity brimming from her voice.

It was probably best not to continue the topic on sex ed. Alex was not comfortable at all talking about it, especially to a girl. So he listened, completely missing her teeth and focus, as she asked about his family. He looked up at the sky, his head tilted back a bit as a small smile played across his face. He loved his brother with all his heart, not to mention how he owed his life to the man. Richard Stone was all he had, though the man was pretty distant. He always had been.
"Yea, I have a brother. He's a knight named Richard. After what... well, err we just moved to the city last week. He's a bit weird, really. Super focused on his work, but he's all I have." Alex grins widely, "But it's alright! I can make plenty of friends here. Like you!"
He didn't really want to talk about the rest of his family, but if she pushed, he'd cave. It wasn't really a secret, but he'd rather not talk about it. "What about you? Where do you come from?" he asked, his eyes shining with curiosity. Alex shone with whatever emotion he felt. He was a beacon of positivity.

Alice exclaimed, though it seemed like her voice never really touched the air. "Wow, I've only heard about those people from stories... well, I've only heard about a lot of things only from stories." She admitted, deciding to not press him on the matter of his family. She had picked up on his side '...but he's all I have', and assumed that his family situation was either complicated or his parents were deceased. Alice knew it was best not to ask about such things.
"Mmm... I am from Ceyerham. My family has a house there. I was raised by my mother and father, but I was never allowed to go outside, so I haven't met many other people. I only know my parents and tutors." she spoke softly, thinking how weird it was to speak so many words at one time. She was so used to choosing her words carefully, evident in her second sentence. A 'house' was definitely an understatement for the Snow's grand estate and mansion, but Alice knew better than to brag.
The small girl brushed some locks of blonde hair from covering her face. She tucked them behind her ear so they wouldn't fall forward again. "I'm so glad to have met you! Sorry again for almost killing you..." Alice's voice came out in one breath, as if she was too tired to take two. She almost excused herself from the roof. The length of the conversation was getting a bit overwhelming, but this boy was very interesting to her. "Classes are starting soon. I'm looking forward to them a lot. Its too bad we only share one class... Is it ok if we meet outside of class? Is that something that friends do?" she asked, without any hint of a joke in her voice. She was legitimately asking about friendship.
"So I was wondering..." she trailed off, looking towards Alex's hand. There was a small scrape from his fall, and a small amount of blood made its way on the top of his skin. Alice stared at his wound for a moment, completely forgetting what she was going to ask him about. It took her longer to snap out of her trance, but she met this oddity with only a smile to Alex. "Er... I'm sorry. I should excuse myself now." she started to walk away, towards the ladder.

His easy grin widened when she spoke of knights. He really was proud of his brother. The man worked hard to get where he was. He was the pride of his entire town. The only knight to have come from there, really. Amaragia was a small town that really only survived so long because of their wheat harvest. Still, it was all behind him now. Alex lived in Eden now, and he was happy to be here. He knew he would do well.
He listened intently, his eyes trained on hers as she spoke of her family. He frowned when she spoke of never leaving the lace. "That must have been hard. I can't imagine not being able to feel the wind every day. Still, I bet they loved you a lot, if they wanted to protect you so much." he smiled genuinely and brought his injured hand up for a thumbs up, not really knowing it had some blood on it. He wondered what her home was like, though he didn't have time to ask as the topic moved on.
"Yea! Im glad to have met you too. You're the first person I've really met out here, so it's really cool! And of course we can meet up! And my classes aren't finalized yet... I'm interested in computers too, so I could easily get into it. W could team up and learn everything even faster!" he cheered, before his eyes widened as she began to flee. He had no clue what was going on, not really. "H-hey! Wait up!" he reached out with his slightly injured hand, reaching for her to have her wait. He felt a bit hurt at her abrupt motion to leave, and had to clue that putting blood closer to a vampire was a bad idea.

Alice was happy to hear him offer to join her computer class. She smiled to herself, but continued swiftly walking away from him, unsure of what was happening to her and what she was feeling. I'm human! she screamed at herself, squeezing her eyes shut against both the wind from the roof and the tornado of reality. I'm human, I'm human, I'm human! she repeated, shaking her head back and forth as a thin line of disdain crossed her mouth. ...But...a voice seemed to speak to her from within. A voice, it seemed, that was her own. You're also a vampire.
Alex's hand neared her shoulder, his pulsing veins drumming in Alice's delicate ears. In one swift movement, she seized his hand and wrenched it forwards, drawing him closer to her with sudden inhuman strength. With her other arm, she trapped him in a deadly embrace, gently caressing the back of his head, wrapping her fingers around the brown locks of his hair. The two met eye-to-eye, with Alice's bright pink irises glowing hotter than the evening sun. She seemed to stare right into his very soul, looking at him as a predator might look into the eyes of its prey.
Without another moment's hesitation, she grabbed a fistful of hair and bent his head back, sinking her teeth into the soft flesh of his throat.

His hand touched her, and in an instant, everything seemed to change.
Looking back, Alex would realize that it was at this moment, here on the roof where he met his first friend in this new city, that it had finally sunk in. Everything was different. Nothing was the same. He could walk forward with his head held high, or he could fall behind and perish. He didn't know why, but in this moment, right now... He truly understood this girl in front of him. It was fleeting, as his blue eyes locked with hers, but he understood her with every fiber of his soul.
And then it was gone. Gone, with his blood as her lips touched his neck, his body jerked forward, a soft hand caressing his brown locks. Teeth sunk in, greedily drinking deeply from his life's essence. His mouth parted in a silent cry, nothing but a rush of air escaping him as his eyes, the gaze broken, widened as his mind comprehended what was happening. This girl was a vampire. She had just met him and he just met her. She had scared him, and almost had him fall to his death. They bonded, as two people often do, to become friends. And now she was draining him of his life.
He remembered, in his youth, when he was misbehaving. His mother had told him to go to bed, but he was wide awake. He wanted to go out to play, even if it was dark. He told her no, and she sat him on her knee and whooped his ass. She told him about how if kids like him misbehave and don't listen to their mothers, the vampires will come in the night, to drink his very soul. For two days, he obayed her every word, before he decided he knew better and ran out again.
He couldn't help but remember that moment, here and now. However, it wasn't only fear he felt. He knew, somehow inside of him, he knew she didn't want to hurt him. It wasn't her fault. She was his friend, after all. He wouldn't abandon her from this, he decided as an odd numbness settled into his body. She was his friend. She was his friend... Hopefully she would stop soon, before he got too dizzy and ran out of blood. That could be bad. He was alright, right? It was only a little blood? How was this even happening, anyway? She seemed so normal to him, if a little quiet.
No, she couldn't be a bad person. Alex knew he was an excellent judge of character. It wasn't her fault. It wasn't her fault.

Blood flowed freely into Alice's mouth, its sweet taste making its way down her throat and into her body. She kept Alex locked into position as his muscles stiffened in a defensive reaction, her inner predator shouting expressions of glee as it seemed that he wasn't going to try and stop her. But suddenly, he relaxed, letting himself fall into the lion's embrace with no remorse. At this moment, the human part of Alice emerged all at once, the pink glow dimming from her eyes and her arms loosening around him. Almost as quickly as she grabbed, him, she let him go. Blood ran down the sides of her mouth and off the tip of her chin.
"Oh... god!" she cried, her voice cracking as tears began to run down her cheeks. "No... no...!" she wailed, trying to wipe off the blood from her cheeks. It smeared over her pale cheeks and dried over her hand. By now, Alex was still conscious but bleeding profusely from the two drill-sized holes in his throat. Without thinking, Alice moved forward again, this time gently running her tongue over the two incisions. When she pulled back, there was only untouched skin on his neck, as if she had never even bit him at all.
But the evidence was all over her face, her hands, and Alex's shirt and chest. " This... ah... I'm really sorry... ah... this has never happened before... oh god..." she was completely distraught, still trying to wipe the dried blood from her mouth, wishing that she could just give all of his blood back. "Do you need help? Can you stand? Please, sit down..." she reached out a hand as if to help him, but retracted it instead, thinking that he probably wouldn't want to be touched by someone as monstrous as she.

"Ahh..." was all he managed to say as she pulled back, before wailing. He opened his moth to speak, but before he could say anything, she had leaned in again, and her tongue ran across the wounds. So warm... he thought, before reaching out to her shoulder and her arm with both hands to help steady himself. Still, it wasn't very effective, as he fell back a bit, causing him to fall on his bottom. Of course, having grabbed onto her, he accidentally dragged the poor girl with him, her body falling onto his to get her clothes dirty with his blood as well.
"Ah! I'm sorry! Are you alright? he asked, his voice a bit unsteady, as if she didn't just bite him and drain his blood for a second. Really, he needs to get his priorities straight.

"Wha-- Wait!" Alice cried, before Alex dragged her to the ground. Taken off guard by his sudden falter, she didn't have enough time to steady either him or herself, and fell on top of him. Her head landed on his chest, permitting Alice to hear his faint heartbeat in rhythm with her own. There was sudden tranquility in the sound; Alex was alive. At least, it seemed, he was for now.
Immediately Alice pushed herself up so that her weight was not on him. She met his eyes again, but this time her pink irises did not glow. "Don't say you're sorry! I'm fine! We need to get you to an apothecary or something! Oh, I don't even know if I'm poisonous or not!" she stared into his eyes, suddenly aware of how close they were. "If I'm poisonous, lord knows what they'll do to you! God, I can't even bring you to the apothecary..." she was suddenly unaware of what kind of school this was; she thought that everyone else here was human.

Her panic was contagious, and Alex was quick to catch it himself. His eyes widened when she said poisonous. He still wasn't aware of how close their bodies were with the girl practically straddling him from the small tumble. No, his mind was on her words, and his hands came up to grasp her shoulders as he panicked. "Poisonous!? I'm poisoned!? Wait, why would you be poisonous? That doesn't even make sense! It's not like I drank your blood! My blood is Aye Bee Negative... You might be poisoned! We need to get you to a doctor quick!" and then he started struggling to stand, which, of course, was not really a good idea as it made his body move against hers, and finally he realized yes, there was a girl on his lap, and he could tell. oh good what was going on! He flushed, stopped moving, and with flashbacks of seeing boys getting the snot beat out of them for groping girls back in his village, he tried to cower and yelled, "I'm sorry!"
