PERSONALITY TRAITS

Vanitas is what one might call egocentric perhaps even psychotic to a degree.

He's self absorbed, RARELY loyal to his peers or those who 'assume' he's their friend, he's not generous UNLESS he's getting something out of it. He's only concerned about those close to him mainly himself and his own family.

Sadly Van is prone to bitterness, he can and WILL ignore the rights of others if he sees fit. He's rather competitive and hates to lose. He can at times be vain and materialistic and he values individuality over loyalty. He's not afraid of conflict in fact it wouldn't be surprising to find him at the center of a fight. If he had to and it paid good money? He would pursue a career that was harmful to others, he also seems to believe that the benefits of freedom outweigh the benefits of attachment.

He'll rarely admit making mistakes and is careful about making promises because he doesn't like making them in the first place.

Vanitas is blunt, suspicious of most people and he makes enemies very easily.

Now given all of those bad traits he DOES have some good traits.

He's a person who's not easily hurt and CAN when he wants to fit in most places and groups of people. He's not easily moved to tears and he's a thrill seeker. Oddly he's relaxed most of the time and can actually let things wash over him like water off a ducks back. Though if he IS angered he WILL seek revenge and to a large degree even if it's over something petty.

Mostly he might come off as a loner but he's not, he actually likes crowds, he's just usually the one that people avoid because it's likely they'll get in to some sort of trouble when around him.

If he actually believes in something or someone he's willing to take risks to make sure either they succeed or that the situation goes right. He's not embarrassed easily, not passionate about improving the world and a show off. He likes chaotic situations.

He may come off as though he dislikes his family but despite the fact that he may indeed dislike them, he's rather protective over them feeling that, they're HIS family so ONLY HE can bully them.

The two family members he truly cares about and won't ever show any hostility towards are his two children. They will always have a special place in his heart and he contrary to most beliefs is actually friendlier with one of his cousins than he likes to admit.

Vanitas is the older of two twins, his twin brother Ventus was born three and a half minutes after him and of course Vanitas likes to rub in the fact that he's older. Oddly though he and his twin are fraternal as in they do not look a like.

Now Vanitas has a few reasons for why he is the way he is, mainly the fact that he was never really... Seen as family by his mother and father, he doesn't really look like either of them and so he was shunned. Ignored. He was never helped with homework so he had to make sure he did it himself and pass. He was always constantly trying to impress them but in the end he gave up seeing that there was no point in his efforts. Instead he began to hate them, he also seemed to turn his back on the world, strangers, friends, anyone at all were just seen as ways of getting what he wanted.

If he learned one thing from the way he was treated by his parents, it was that nothing comes for free and you don't get anything unless you work to get it in any way possible.

Oddly the only people he seems to actually even be nice to are Ventus, and one of his cousins, Ventus was there for him and actually tried to include him in activities, his cousin because he's actually fun to be around.

Vanitas was fifteen when he had his first girlfriend, she blamed him for various problems in her life due to him being the 'bad boy' type and even though she found herself another boyfriend since Vanitas wasn't good enough for her, she even played the 'I'm pregnant' card to him to try and get him to help support her.

Thankfully a year after that, his girlfriend left. She left completely. Dumped her stuff on Vanitas' parents and just left Eden with her boyfriend who she'd been going steady with. She's moved over to a different continent opting to forget Vanitas like he never existed.

Vanitas stuck with his schooling after that. Opting only to study hard and he passed his exams. He even stayed on for two years to get some teaching practice in and now that he has? He's allowed to teach here himself at such a young age because he was indeed part of the academy!
