PERSONALITY TRAITS

In contrast to his sister, who is calm and soft spoken, Rowan is active, a bit louder, and overall socially friendly. He likes to hold discussions and conversation, and can even enjoy an energetic debate about politics, religions, and world events, though, keeping it respectful to everyone present. He is fiercely loyal and protective to his family, even more so to his sister, and, despite being highly intelligent in terms of mathematics and some engineering concepts, he has found himself getting into fights over someone being hateful to his sister because of her blindness. He holds an unyielding feeling of debt to Lily, due to her stepping up and taking care of him growing up, since their parents weren't there, which was made more difficult on her because of her blindness.

Although the impulse to attack bullies on sight has lessened as he has aged, he will still stand up for Lily against anyone who treats her unfairly. He holds great respect for the staff and faculty at the Academy, and will almost always engage in discussions about their class or occupation, still undecided on what he really wants to do when he graduates.

Rowan was born to Zander and Miyumi Mitsumoto as their second child, a perfectly healthy little boy. They celebrated his birth as they did with his sister before, and his upbringing was the same as any other boy's. That was, until Lily was old enough to do normal things around the house (albeit her blindness). Both parents had gone right back to work, and counted on Lily to help with Rowan (which occurred more and more as time would pass), to the point to where Lily ended up raising Rowan for most of his childhood. Though this brought them closer as brother and sister, Rowan had issues with feeling like his parents were unfair because they had to work all the time, though Lily assured him that it was okay. She did what she needed to, and Rowan appreciated this.

During their early years in school, Rowan had found himself in multiple fights, the respect and love for his sister evident when he would step forward against her bullies in her defense (mostly behind her back, so as not to disappoint or upset her), but always ended up the loser in the fight. The fact that his parents were rarely home, the bruises and wounds went on mostly unnoticed (though, at times, Lily had caught him tending to the wounds on more than one occasion.) Though, as they grew older, his impulse to dive into a fight lessened greatly, and he paid attention more to his studies, overloading in classes for his first two years to get ahead of the game, wanting to get a career that he would enjoy and would sustain him without any outside assistance, since he no longer wants to be a burden on his sister.

He has since taken up an interest in gemstones, wanting to hopefully gain the opportunity to study them and learn more about what they are, having taken classes that would assist him in such studies.
