Though he often presents himself as someone that doesn't care and has no worries this is not the case. He just tends to push his worries to the back of his mind in order to focus on other things. His main concerns tend to be on his family particularly his younger brother Nemi. He has a rather unique way of showing those he cares about that he actually does care. He tends to show it as either mocking or annoying the people close to him. Though he doesn't stand for anyone else doing it especially if they do it to Nemi. He also tends to keep people that are outside of his family at a distance not liking having multiple connections seeing it as something others could use against him. Abarden's paranoia tends to show through at times even with his well maintained mask of indifference. His paranoia stems mainly from watching other people and having seen how often times people use others as nothing more then stepping stones. These observations are what have led him to keeping his connections to others rather limited. He will talk to others though he tends to be rather uneasy when doing so unless in a particularly good mood where he can keep up his mask. Another fault besides his paranoia is that he has a rather short fuse. He tends to go off on people for minor offenses unless it was something his own actions brought upon him. He also often gives off signs of losing his temper which are easily recognizable even to those that don't know him well. The signs usually include the clenching of his fists as well as his eye twitching or gritting his teeth. As one of the middle children he didn't exactly get over much attention from his parents though he didn't really mind this. He got along with his older and younger brothers easily enough. Though he ended up finding it fun to push their buttons and made a habit of annoying them for the fun of it. Whenever he was in town he would spend more time watching others and how they interacted then actually interacting himself. This lead him to discovering that people often tended to act much differently then they really are. He would notice that when people thought no one was looking they would act more like them true self. He saw people using others that were supposedly their friends or even their family for personal gain. This made him wary of others and he began to become rather paranoid. His newfound paranoia made him wary of his father though since nothing ever happened as far as he witnessed he kept his wariness to himself. He ended up starting the academy two years after his brother Aster and managed to make good marks in his classes though he didn't really socialize with the other students. The main time he would have any interactions with them was during recreational activities or when forced to in class. He didn't mind not really forming connections though since in his mind it was better that way. He began to worry a little bit when his brother Nemi didn't show up at school for his first year. After all the last time he had seen Nemi things had appeared to be normal. Though he had noticed his father acting slightly different as well as Nemi he hadn't made much out of it. He is looking forward to actually seeing his brother in the academy this year though.
