The community she lived in was primarily made up of hunters and witch doctors. Because of this she learned only what was necessary when it came to reading and writing. Other skills such as athletics and how to actually hunt were more important. As such she became rather strong and fast. She also had to become extremely agile so as to avoid being fatally wounded when hunting. On one hunt she got seperated from the group she was with. She ended up stumbling onto the home of a shaman woman. However this shaman woman did not like guests especially uninvited ones. Since Amaris had come onto her territory the Shaman woman cursed her. Making it so that she would out live all those in her village as well as turning her from a normal woman into a Hermaphrodite. Amaris however let neither of the effects of the curse get her down. It would be painful to lose people she had known her entire life but she knew it was just as likely that monsters could level the village with very few to no survivors. Plus she had liked women more to begin with. After several years she moved to Eden and decided to sign up for a security position watching over the Red Zone where many monsters lived. After all it would put her skills as a hunter and warrior to good use. Plus she'd be able to protect people that way which was something she felt very strongly about. The strong should protect the weak. One of the rules of her village and one that she had taken to heart.
