Utopia Institute Rules
Lessons Lessons should be 3 - 4 threads, students must attend at least half of those threads to pass the class and also complete any homework set by the professor. Usually two pieces of homework per class. (Teachers can give this homework anyway they so choose.)
Legal Ages Since U.I. is set on British ruling. The following are legal ages for certain things.
14 + You can get a part time job, for a maximum of two hours on a school day. You can go into a bar and order soft drinks.
15+ Working restrictions are the same as 14-year-olds.
16+ You have the right to give consent to medical, dental and surgical treatment. This includes contraceptive advice and treatment. You can have sex, gay or straight, so long as your partner is also 16+ (OOC:- Remember black screens or take it elsewhere.) You can drink a beer, wine, or cider with a meal in a pub or restaurant if you are with an adult. You can ride a moped with a max engine power of 50cc (and a provisional licence). You can also drive an invalid vehicle (with a licence) and a mowing machine. You can get married (with parental consent). And you can buy liquor chocolates. At last.
17+ You can drive most types of vehicles (with a provisional driving licence and a 21+ adult in the passenger seat who is qualified to drive). If you pass your driving test, and you're properly insured, you can get behind the wheel and take to the road on your own. You can apply for a private pilot's licence for a plane, helicopter, gyroplane, hot air balloon and airship. You can become a blood donor.
18+ You can get married without parental permission. You can view, rent, or buy pornographic material that does not contravene UK obscenity laws. You can place a bet in a betting shop/casino. You can buy cigarettes, rolling tobacco and cigarette papers. You can buy an alcoholic drink in a pub or a bar.
19+ All of the above.
21+ You can apply to adopt a child.
Student and Teacher Relations It is not encouraged that students and teachers have intimate relations within the institute. However if a student is over the age of 18 then it will be seen as two adults rather than an adult and a child.
Teachers caught having intimate relations with anyone under the age of 18 who attends U.I. will immediately be fired and the student will be expelled without any chance of re-entry.
Pregnancy It is not the academy's responsibility to provide for newborn children or small children.
----------------------------------------------------------
If you are under 16 and fall pregnant both the mother and father will be asked to leave the academy and will NOT be able to re-enter.
----------------------------------------------------------
Students who are between the ages of 16 and 18 and fall pregnant will be subject to leaving the academy (without any chance of re-entry) or having their children removed from their care until they have finished the academy and are able to provide for those children. Unless you have proven that you are able to follow the rules pertaining to adults.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Anyone over the age of 18 who falls pregnant will be given appropriate housing on campus but must find their own way to provide for their children and must find appropriate/suitable sitters to look after their children while they are attending studies, completing duties or teaching.
Pregnant students/teachers/staff will not be given 'time off' from lessons/work until the last three months of pregnancy (unless they have saved up vacation time) even then they will still be required to study/work and students will be required to pass (most of) their exams or be asked to leave the academy.
If you have more than two recreational activities you will be required to lower it to two and two alone - this counts for students AND teachers. If the father is on campus he will be required to adhere to the same rules as the mother as care should be shared between both parents.
---------------------------------------------------------
Both parents must attend at least one class of home economics.
Dorm Hours Students may visit each others dorms and dorm rooms, the mixed dorms are open at all times. Male and Female only dorm doors LOCK at 2:00am and will open again at 6:00am unless a student has a card that has been pre-approved to unlock the door between those hours or have permission granted to be out at that time by the principal.
